Guest Baristas

The Café staff has grown to include a number of guest baristas. Why? To ensure the Café has new content regularly – particularly when the Chief Barista is busy with work or travelling. Please welcome:

Glenda Holmes, ABC
Glenda R. Holmes, ABC

Glenda is the Vice President of Communications and Marketing for the Texas Apartment Association, a statewide trade association representing the Texas rental housing industry. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing all communications targeting more than 10,000 association members.

Glenda has been involved in association communications, marketing and management for 17 years. In addition to targeting association communications in her professional life, she has served as a volunteer for several professional societies and associations, including IABC and the Texas Society of Association Executives.

As an active participant in IABC for the past 16 years, Glenda has held various positions on the local, regional and international boards.

Glenda holds two undergraduate degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.


Julie Freeman
Julie Freeman, ABC, APR

Julie Freeman, ABC, APR, is president of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). She has 25 years of experience in communication and nonprofit management and has helped organizations undergoing financial crises to recover and to rebuild their public image. Since becoming president of IABC in July 2001, Freeman has worked to improve the association’s financial health and enhance the value of IABC membership.

During her term as president, IABC has eliminated its financial deficit ahead of schedule and provided staff leadership for IABC’s branding work. During her term, IABC has launched several new programs including two blogs (IABC Café and In Session) and a blog community (Communication Commons), teleseminars and web seminars, a job board for job seekers and employers, and an online communication planning tool for members (MyComm). Freeman has previously served as executive director of the Professional Picture Framers Association and has an MBA from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. She is a frequent speaker and media commentator on business communication topics and industry trends.
