A sad day indeed

Woke up this morning to news of the terrorist attacks in London and have been trying to follow news reports all morning and exchange emails with friends to find out if they were OK. Good news so far on that front at least. The blogosphere is filing up with first hand accounts, photos and commentary. If you are interested in following some of that coverage you can start here or here.

To Café relatives, friends and colleagues in London, know that our thoughts are with you on this sad day.

It is a sad and scary day. Another one. Of course, incidents like this that seem so out of place in western society really bring home the atrocities that people in certain other countries have dealt with for generations.

  2. Robert J Holland, ABC Says:

Our thoughts and prayers go to all of our friends and colleagues in the U.K. and around the world who deal with tragedies such as this.

It’s also an opportunity for us communicators to urge our business leaders to prepare for the unexpected. Many businesses have realized the importance of an emergency preparedness plan and a business resumption plan. The communication plans that support these contingencies often are overlooked. Of course, business and organization leaders have their minds on dozens of priorities, so we have a responsibility to be as proactive as possible about encouraging crisis-communication planning.

Amen to that, CArolyn. We have no idea what it’s like to confront terrorism as a fact of life.

Hats off to the Brits. They handled this amazingly well. I’m so impressed by how they got everyone off to the proper care, then got the tube up and running again.

God Bless and Hail to the U.K.!
