It’s a New Year!

Tsunami affects continue

The aftermath of the Tsunami seemed to get more devastating every day. In my last post, I provided some resources to send aid and help. Here are a few more, compliments of Neville Hobson, ABC in the Netherlands:

and of course, the International Red Cross.

I have heard from IABC members in Malaysia and Thailand that they are still feeling the affects of the Tsunami disaster. My thoughts and prayers for hope are with all of people in the affected regions.

Accreditation is taking off
Participation and enthusiasm for accreditation has never been stronger. I especially applaud the efforts of IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador where eight chapter members earned IABC’s symbol of competence and professionalism. They are among our most recent ABC’s:

Jan Thibodeau, ABC - IABC/Yankee
Peggy Bieniek, ABC - IABC/Phoenix
Barb Stephens, ABC - IABC/Grand Valley
Caron Hawko, ABC - IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador
Martha Muzychka, ABC - IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador
Ivan Muzychka, ABC - IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador
Dawn Dalley, ABC - IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador
Lori Lee Oates, ABC - IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador
Diana Quinton, ABC - IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador
Gina J. Pecore, ABC - IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador
Lynn Barter, ABC - IABC/Newfoundland and Labrador

Congratulations to all of you.

Leadership Institute February 25-6 in Seattle
IABC leaders from around the globe will convene in Seattle next month for a day and a half of leadership development and training, as well as many opportunities to network and share best practices. About 200 IABC leaders are expected to participate in this year’s LI. From my experience in IABC, this is a top notch event and one that reaps benefits to all IABC members through strong, well managed chapters.

One Response to “It’s a New Year!”

  1. Brian Kilgore Says:

Has a new chapter been established in Denmark yet?

And can you bring us up to date on which five cities with fewer than 500 IABC members will have more than 500 when your term in office ends?

    Thanks
