Rather than a single episode containing a chat between President Julie Freeman, ABC, and Chair Mark Schumann, ABC, along with an interview, IABC will produce multiple shorter episodes during the month, each containing one feature along with a brief update of IABC activities.

In this first episode under the new format, Cafe2Go host Joseph Ugalde, IABC VP of Marketing and Communication, facilitates the first conversation between Julie and Mark as Mark was about to take office at the annual general meeting. The discussion was recorded live at the IABC World Conference in San Francisco. Mark and Julie discuss the role of the chair and Mark talks about his vision for the 2009-2010 term.

<itunes:summary>The role of research in communication is the focus of a conversation between IABC President Julie Freeman, ABC, APR and 2008-09 Chair Barbara Gibson, ABC. Then, Neville Hobson discusses strategic communication planning with Lester Potter, ABC, author of the the recently-released third edition of IABC's all-time most popular manual, "The Communication Plan."

This conversation between Julie Freeman and Barbara Gibson was recorded in November for a November-only episode of "Cafe2Go" that was to include an interview with Samuel Adenekan of Lagos, Nigeria, chairman of the 2009 EXCEL award committee. Technical difficulties precluded the inclusion of this interview and an alternate interview with Les Potter was arranged for December, making this a one-time two-month episode.
